Shekaru defects from APC joins NNPP

Former Governor of Kano state & Presidential aspirant, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso with Sen. Ibrahim Shekarau

Former Governor of Kano state, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau has defected from the ruling All Progressive Congress to the New Nigeria Peoples Party on Tuesday.

The defection is coming days after the Supreme court ruled in favor of the Incumbent Governor, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje as regards who controls the Kano state APC structure. The ruling does not favor Sen. Shekarau's political calculations, thus his defection to the New Nigerian People's Party.

You recall, after the APC congress in the state, the party was unable to settle for a substantive state working committee which led to factions being formed. One faction was loyal to the Incumbent Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, while another to Senator Ibrahim Shekarau.

Not satisfied with the aftermath of the congress, one faction went to court, and the suit finds its way from the Federal high court up to the Supreme court.

The senator was received by Engr. Musa Rabiu Kwankwaso in Kano state and attendance was the former house of representatives member, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin alongside PDP gubernatorial aspirant in Kano during the 2019 elections, Mr. Abba Kabir Yusuf.
