Dear Young People of the Southwest Region,
As we step into this New Year 2026, The Southwest Youth Parliament extends warm greetings, hope, and solidarity to every young person across our region, wishing us all a year full of joy, happiness and result.
Undoubtedly, the past years have not been easy, our communities have faced challenges such as insecurity, limited access to education, lack of job opportunities, economic hardship and the struggle to make our voices heard. These realities have tested our resilience, but they have not broken our spirit. Instead, they have revealed the strength, creativity, and determination of the youth of the Southwest region.
As young people, we are not just victims of these challenges—we are key actors in shaping solutions though civic engagement, peacebuilding efforts, entrepreneurship, community service, advocacy, and innovation, Southwest youth through the Southwest Youth Parliament continue to contribute positively to our communities, even in difficult circumstances.
Actions which includes and not limited to mentoring a peer, choosing dialogue over violence, starting a small business, volunteering, speaking up responsibly on matters that affected us as young persons shaped our activities for the just concluded year and with God on our side, we were able to successfully had two sittings in Ogun and Ondo States respectively and we look forward to having more in this new year.
Dear youths of our region, passionately, I write that In this New Year, as a parliament, we encourage you to:
-Believe in your potential and refuse to give up on your dreams.
-Be agents of peace, unity, and responsible leadership in your communities.
-Use your voice constructively to advocate for education, justice, inclusion, and development.
-Support one another and build networks that uplift and empower youth.
-Embrace skills, creativity, and innovation as tools for self-reliance and regional growth.
The Southwest Youth Parliament remains committed to amplifying youth voices, promoting youth participation in governance, and creating platforms where young people can contribute meaningfully to peace and development in our region.
May this New Year bring renewed hope, courage, opportunities, and collective progress. Together, let us continue to shape a Southwest where young people are heard, valued, and empowered.
