KAP: DELIVERING QUALITY REPRESENTATION AT THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

Hon. Kalejaiye Adeboye Paul, Ph.D., KAP
Member Representing Ajeromi/Ifelodun Federal Constituency, Lagos State

Our attention has been drawn to an interview titled “I do not think the Ajeromi Ifelodun MHR has fared well” granted by one Barr. Ahmed Musa. Ordinarily, we won’t have responded, but it is important to put the fact straight, in order not to allow the erroneous publication to mislead the good people of Ajeromi/Ifelodun Federal Constituency.

First of all, we can understand the frustration of the Barrister, having failed to secure an appointment from the Honourable office, of which he begged for, and was politely turned down because of his antecedents and the fact that he wasn’t considered suitable for that position. This is not what the MHR would want to make a public matter but your attitude towards him since then has been nothing but antagonistic.

It is therefore not surprising that the Barrister won’t see anything good and will not likely see because he his blind to reasoning, however his criticism are well appreciated, but he may take the following as a genuine reaction:

1.            Unfortunately, when you spoke at the Awodi Ora meeting (Abayomi Hall) you spoke and left without waiting for a reply. There and then, Honourable Kolawole Taiwo (HKT) replied to you, to say that the issue of the Ongoing projects which he initiated will be completed by him. He alluded to the fact that it is not the fault of the serving MHR. So, it may interest you to note that every discussion with the outgone MHR as pointed to the fact that he would rather complete the project and does not want anybody to do. That suffice to say that you are crying more than the bereaved. You lack fact in this matter so to say.

2.            Similarly, the idea of Federal Government Press conversion to a Skill Acquisition is still an ongoing event which will culminate into success or a failure depending on the Federal Government ability to release the property for sale and if the property is eventually released, it could also be used for something else if the ongoing project is completed by the outgone MHR.

3.            You may also want to know that the palliative in question which you referred to as having taken place in the barracks was for a purpose of security, and no leader or individual was beaten as you claimed. Even those that were not invited for the palliative who were there were given cash reward for attending the ceremony. So, leadership, governance is not about 100% satisfaction, it is about your willingness, your intentions, and the genuineness of your intentions.

4.            As to continuous consultations, you may be absent in terms of consultation, but you will recall that in the constituency office, where you were present, leaders of communities were taken up and discussed with, you may also want to recall, that the End of the Year worship tagged “The Merciful God Concert” in December, 2023 was an assemblage of all Faith, whether Muslims, Christians or what-a-view, where everybody enjoyed they have their opinions heard. We are also reminding the so-called Barrister that the Iftar that was done for the Muslims during the last Ramadan festival still lingers in the mind of the people.  And for the first time, the MHR organised a Ramadan lecture which was also attended by Muslims and Christian faithful.

5.            You will not be blind to the fact that the MHR is currently lightning up the entire Ajegunle; Uzo street, God in action street, Peter Street, Ojo road, Boundary/Ojora street (In part), and in the ongoing projects, additional Sixteen (16) streets are billed to light up.

6.            The MHR is not unaware that He will be doing an annual palliative, in which you should wait and see the outcome.

Hon. Kalejaiye Adeboye Paul recently speaking on the floor of the House.

7.            As to having an “Englishman in Abuja”, I am sure you prefer to have an Englishman in Abuja than to have an illiterate in Abuja, somebody who cannot commune with the entire 360 Members who are intellectuals, and hails from different part of the country. Nobody in Nigeria will descend to send an illiterate to the National Assembly. So, if you recognize the intellectual sagacity of a Ph.D. holder who represents you in the National Assembly, you must also recognize his motions that has been moved on the floor of the House.

8.            These motions include the Rehabilitation of the Kirikiri road, it may interest you to note that the part of the Kirikiri road – Amuwa axis has been completed, waiting for the other end of Ajegunle to also be considered.

9.            You will also realize that he has also move numerous other motions which includes but not limited to installing medical facilities in our airports for the test of High blood Pressure, and Diabetes, he is currently sponsoring a Bill which has passed through second reading for the Establishment of an Entrepreneurship University, Lagos. This of course, is still addressing the issue of skill acquisition, ensuring that people are empowered in a manner that their education can be useful and become employers of labour.

10.          So, Hon. Kalejaiye Adeboye Paul is not in Abuja sleeping, he is up and running. Meanwhile, some of your advice that are genuine will be taken, but it is important to let you know that you don’t express your frustration through the medium you chose, rather you should have engaged the MHR in a discussion, which of course he is ever open to such discussion and criticism.

11.          That Government is continuum we understand, and nobody can do it in one day.

12.          Are you aware of how many youths of ours that have gained admissions into universities, Unity secondary schools, through the assistant of the Hon. Kalejaiye Adeboye Paul?

13.          Are you aware how many applications are been processed for our youths to be engaged in Federal Government employments? Are you also aware that the Primary School in Ladipo has been completed, furnished with modern equipment’s, as part of the achievement of the MHR?

14.          Are you aware that there are other projects coming?

15.          You are very well welcome, we are also monitoring your own activities too, we will respond to you in the nearest future.

16.          Above all, we know you left your former party in frustration when you were denied of the Vice-Chairmanship ticket, so we can understand you, and we are also watching you as a mole in the APC.

17.          We are open to accommodating people, we have not denied you. Since you join the All Progressives Congress, we have never denied you of any good thing, you were given the CDA Chairman, you were also given an SA to the Chairman of the Council.

18.          Talk is cheap! You should avail yourself the opportunity to listen, learn and not necessarily jumping into the streets, criticizing good intentions.

Congratulations for coming out to talk. Thanks for your observation, they are well noted.
