The Governor of Oyo State His Excellency Seyi Makinde received a delegation from the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC) at the Agodi government House, Ibadan.
The delegation which was led by the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammadu Sa'ad Abubakar, has in it the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Supo Ayokunle, and another member of the council.
NIREC is in Oyo state for its quarterly meeting, a meeting which is aimed at improving religious tolerance in the country, and peaceful co-existence amongst federating units, separate classes, and citizens.

Governor Makinde welcomed the council to the pace-setter state and encouraged them to speak out to douse tensions that will arise as the country head into the 2023 general elections with conversations taking on ethnic and religious tones.
The performing Governor was awarded a plaque during the meeting while expressing confidence in the council to help Nigerians live peacefully with each other.
