Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo Olu has come out in a happy mood to celebrate with the state workers on May Day, a day set aside to celebrate workers all across the globe. He revealed it was with great pleasure that he joined the Lagos state workers to commemorate this year's event.
"It was with great pleasure that I joined all workers of Lagos State, and indeed Nigeria and the rest of the world, to commemorate this year’s International Workers’ Day, at the Mobolaji Johnson arena earlier today. Today is a day to celebrate, recognize and acknowledge the contributions of our hard-working and dedicated labor force.
He further express his appreciation to the workers for their immense contributions to economic growth, "I expressed my deep appreciation to all Lagos State workers for their immense contributions to economic growth and development. Their untiring hard work has brought and continues to bring prosperity to our dear state, and creates boundless opportunities for the advancement of our society.
While speaking on the theme of the day, Governor Sanwo Olu reminds the workers of the task ahead and his interest in providing a safer working environment for them. "The theme for this year’s May Day celebration, “Labour, Politics and the Quest for Good Governance and Development in Nigeria”, brings to mind the onerous task ahead of us, to build a prosperous society that feeds its people, provides decent and affordable health care and education and provides a standard of living for every Lagosian, a standard we can be proud of."
Mr. Sanwo Olu concluded by reechoing his administration strength, "In Lagos State, our workers are our topmost priority, and we have gone to great lengths to demonstrate this. We are known for prompt payment of workers’ salaries while equally making every effort to ensure that our retirees receive prompt attention."
Amidst, cheers and fanfare, the Lagos state workers, celebrated International workers day.
