In a bid to increase internal generated revenue IGR in Ondo state, Arakurin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has skyrocket the means to achieve same. Akeredolu started with land use charge in three major towns in the state which includes Akure, Ondo and Owo and thence to minor town involving idanre, ilaje and others.
Arakurin who is fondly called Arabirin by civil servants, owing to the believe that he his been controlled by his wife, Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu has not stop inflicting pain on the people, this is as a result of a devilish intentions of getting money from commutters of the Oba - adesida road, constructed by the Mimiko led administration.
Public reactions
" It was in the night that some people came here and painted the place for parking, thereby collecting money from us" this was the statement of one Adebayo.
"If the governor is being sincere with this parking lots he should have done it in the day and make his hand pure" Mr Odeyemi said.
A business owner around the area who plead to speak in anonymity said " ours is to see, and can't do" because whatever the government does is final, when he started the land use charge we all complained, what has come out of it now, he asked, we will continue to watch his government do that which he believe to be good but bringing pain to the people.
One Alfa Muyideen posited " this government only Major on the Minor and Minor on the Major, the Akure - Ado road is there he refuse to profer solution to it, but can do a parking that will only enrich his purse and that of the agency in charge".
The question is, should governance be by inflicting more pain on the people, is it getting more from the people's purse while the economy is as bad as that of some eastern country?
The decision to correct this evil is within the domain of the electorate. The electorate use their power in Oyo state by ejecting a Voiceferous Governor with his gubernatorial candidate combined, thereby electing a working Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, Ondo state can replicate same by voting a reputable candidate.
Vote out bad governance.
