Press Release
January 17, 2026
The Akoko North West Students’ Union Government (ANWSUG) expresses its profound gratitude and unwavering support to Dr. Sunday Olalere Oloruntobi, a distinguished son of Okeagbe Akoko, for his exceptional and visionary contributions to educational empowerment and grassroots development across Akoko North West Local Government Area.
In a landmark intervention that will leave a lasting impact on students and families, Dr. Oloruntobi has fully funded the 2026 National Examinations Council (NECO) registration fees for all 1,246 registered students across 20 public secondary schools in Akoko North West. This singular act of generosity has lifted a significant financial burden off parents and guardians—many of whom are hardworking farmers, traders, and artisans—at a time of prevailing economic challenges.
By removing this critical barrier, Dr. Oloruntobi has ensured that no student is denied the opportunity to sit for the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination due to financial constraints, thereby safeguarding the dreams and academic futures of hundreds of young people.
Beyond education, Dr. Oloruntobi’s commitment to community development reflects a deep and holistic understanding of sustainable progress. He has empowered 105 emerging entrepreneurs in Okeagbe with a ₦1 million grant each, stimulating local enterprise, job creation, and economic resilience within the community. In addition, he has instituted a monthly stipend of ₦10,000 for elderly persons and widows in Okeagbe, reinforcing social inclusion and ensuring that the most vulnerable members of society are supported with dignity and care.
These interventions go beyond philanthropy; they represent a profound sense of responsibility, compassion, and enduring connection to home. As Dr. Oloruntobi aptly stated, “Indeed, Okeagbe Akoko is a blessed community, and I am a proud son of Akoko North West.”
To the students whose academic paths are now secured, the parents relieved of financial strain, the entrepreneurs poised for growth, and the elderly and widows assured of sustained support, Dr. Sunday Olalere Oloruntobi stands as a beacon of hope, integrity, and selfless service. His actions affirm that purposeful leadership and compassion can transform lives and strengthen communities.
On behalf of the Akoko North West Students’ Union Government, students, educators, parents, community leaders, and stakeholders across the Local Government Area, ANWSUG salutes Dr. Oloruntobi with the highest respect and appreciation. We pray that his life continues to be a source of blessing and that the seeds he has sown today yield enduring benefits for generations to come.
Indeed, the future of Akoko North West is brighter than ever.
