Governor of Edo State Mr. Godwin Obaseki

The Governor of Edo State Mr. Godwin Obaseki has said Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa the Governor of Delta State who also double as the Vice Presidential candidate of the People's Democratic Party in the forthcoming 2023 general election is from Edo State.

He said this in Benin, Edo State while addressing the party faithful in a meeting to ensure peace and tranquility in the way and manner the party structure is being led.

Mr. Obaseki started by saying "It is my view that we need to meet as a party in Edo State. We thank God that we have gone through our primaries, and we have also selected one of us as the Vice President of Nigeria."

He asked "Is Delta not part of us? While the people chorused "Yes he is part of us." Obaseki went on to say, "Okowa's mother and Grandmother are, they are from Orhionmwon, so he is from Edo."

He said the party is making progress, "So we are making progress, we are setting the pace as we have always done for the politics of this country. He took a jibe at the ruling All Progressive Congress for not having a substantial Vice President after her primaries "the ruling party cannot even select the Vice President, they are creating political placeholder".
